ADSS Certificate Authority Server offers Certificate Authority (CA) features using a flexible web services interface. Using its simple XML/SOAP web interface the key generation and certification services can be easily integrated within a business application or used with a Registration Authority (RA) application such as a smartcard management system. Ascertia can also deliver project-based Registration Authority applications to meet specific business needs.
Simplified Key Generation
The biggest problem in deploying certificates to external end-users is the use of Internet browser key generation functionality. The many different end-user environments lead to failure issues during user enrolment and there is little a corporate helpdesk can do to resolve this. The standard warning messages are also unfriendly to business managers. ADSS Certificate Authority Server changes the dynamic by generating keys and certificates on the server and delivers them as a standard PFX / PKCS#12 certificate file. This is a much more successful mechanism that is supported by all popular browsers and operating systems. Another alternative is to use Go>Sign Applet and generate local roaming signing keys and manage and certify these within ADSS Certificate Authority Server. Finally ADSS Certificate Authority Server also supports simple PKCS#10 certificate signing requests (CSRs). It can be chained to other internal and external Certificate Authorities and can offer an advanced option for controlling the certificate template preventing the risk of uncontrolled certificate issuance.
Meets CWA 14167-1 Compliancy
ADSS Server is the underlying technology for ADSS Certificate Authority Server. This product automatically inherits all the important security management, performance and high availability features. It has been carefully designed to meet the CWA 14167-1 requirements for trustworthy systems and can create EU qualified certificates when used with a suitable smartcard management system such as BlueX from AET Europe. Interestingly it can also be extended to use the OCSP service module to offer complete certificate issuance and real-time certificate validation services. Optional Key Recovery services can also be provided as part of the ADSS Certificate Authority web service.
